Steps in Starting to Work Home based

Some people would think that home based jobs are for lazy people who want to slack whenever possible. For easy job it might be true but not to totally slack. If you’re done with your job why not? But there are jobs that more often than not you lack sleep just to make it done. The conveniences of home based jobs are having not to travel from home to office, doesn’t need to dress to kill, No traffic, no commute, you can eat any time, when your work is done you can do anything right away; you can have extra jobs and many more. But it is a serious job like the other. It’s just the location and perks that makes the difference. That made it so convenient and challenging at the same time.

     1.  Have a stable internet and reliable computer. It is very important to have stable internet and a reliable computer. It will gradually affect your performance and productivity. Also your credibility as an employee. Not because this is a home based job doesn’t mean it’s not a serious work. Reality is, it is more serious than office job. Why? You are responsible for all the things that you need to get your job done. Unlike in the office everything is given to you. Here in Home based job world, you need to maintain everything in perfect shape to make them work for you. You have to maintain a good computer, internet, microphone/headset, webcam etc. It’s all up to you. It is not good to say you didn’t work because you have power interruption, your computer has virus, your mouse isn’t working and the rest. It’s work and its business.

2.       Have a career goal. What are your skills? What job do you want to work on? You can’t apply as a computer programmer if you don’t know a single computer program language. You can’t be a Japanese translator if you don’t know anything about Japanese language. Be realistic.

3.       Update your resume and send it to online job portals. Create your profile to job search websites. Make sure that your picture is updated and also the previous jobs you had. Some people are not comfortable putting their pictures but it is necessary to have it on your profile. The employer will get an impression that you are not confident enough or has insecurity problem that will really affect your application. Attitude is the most important thing in home based jobs. You will not physically in the presence of your employer, at least you need to build a trust and confidence about getting the job done. Make sure your picture is taken professionally. Or you look professional on it.

4.        Apply to job posts online. Apply at your own risk. Check the salary, job description and requirements. Read before you press “Apply Button”. A NO SHOW in your scheduled interview might get you in trouble in your future applications. Some job site will have you blacklisted.

5.       Be ready for your interview. Prepare everything that is needed. Do your homework. Meaning search about the company you are applying for. Practice for the common interview questions. Have your resume ready so you can read it if possible especially if the question is about your past jobs and descriptions of those. Make sure your headset / microphone, webcam etc are working and your internet is in good speed.

6.       When you get hired, always work to impress. Home based job is a virtual world. Your employer might give you a good or bad feedback according to your performance and might affect your future endeavor.
