I got to tell you, if you want to work homebased because you want to escape the traffic, the office gossips and other curricular activities, if you dreamed of working right after you wake up never minding what dress to wear? Well working homebased will be really enticing for you.
BUT..
You must really know what working at home really means first.
Working homebased is not a get rich quick scheme. It is basically an ordinary work which you should have your own work station or home office. It doesn't mean networking either. Because a lot of people out there think that when you are working homebased you are just part of a networking program.
It's a BIG NO.
Professionally, homebased jobs are real jobs. You will apply for it like an ordinary job opening, sometimes there's an interview or test to measure your skills and then you'll sign a contract. Your employer is from overseas. The salary might be in your local currency or theirs.
There are some company with probation period also which if you don't passed they will end your contract. There's a monthly evaluation also to some. The good thing is, like in an office job there's also benefits to 'some' company or employer like bonuses, paid leaves, all paid team buildings, Christmas party, salary increase, birthday paid leave, sick leave, health insurance and more. But do not generalized these to all companies. Some offers the same a lot don't have any.
On the other hand..
Literally, working at home is simply working while you're at home. You might have an online business, or you are an agent from a real estate company using your skills in getting leads through facebook etc.
But you must understand, working at home and real homebased jobs are different. In homebased jobs you have your own employer just like an office job.
What do you need to start hunting for a homebased job?
1. Your updated resume.
2 email address
3. Sign up to those online job portals.
4. Have your laptop/personal computer ready. core i3 or higher for laptop is better. For personal computer core2duo with 2gb ram is okay. If higher much better.
5. Your internet speed must be 2mbps or higher. There's a 50/50 chance that employer would hire lower than that speed and also it should be DSL not wireless. If you want a higher chance of being hired take note of this.
6. Make sure you have your webcam and microphone/headset working properly. This is incase the employer needs to interview you via video/voice call.
7. Skype account. This is the usual and very common requirement. For interviews and everyday communication when you're hired.
8. Work station. Make sure that your work station is neat and quiet.
9. Paypal account. This is the most common way to receive your salary or payment. I will write an article about this soon.
Next time I will share to you a real voice interview for homebased jobs and the common mistakes you might make and how to avoid them and get the job.
